A STRUGGLING choir says it needs new singers to keep going.
All-girls choir Southend Young Singers is down to just 14 members but needs about 30 to fulfil its busy calendar of performances and shows.
Secretary Lyn Silverman said: “We had quite a lot of older girls but they have gone to college, university or got jobs.
“It would be a real shame if we couldn’t carry on. It’s been going for 70 years and it’s such a great experience for the girls.”
The choir, which sings a mixture of classical songs and carols, practices at Clarence Road Baptist Church, in Clarence Road, Southend, on Saturday mornings.
Prospective members aged between eight and 21 can call Mrs Silverman on 07944 329882.
