A PROSTITUTE has been banned from part of Southend after being convicted for the fourth time of selling sex.
Christine Mulligan, 41, was already barred from several roads in the borough between the hours of 6pm and 6am.
Mulligan was spotted by police last August and September hanging around on street corners in Southchurch Road, Lancaster Gardens and Southchurch Avenue.
Mulligan, of East Street, Southend, had already been made the subject of an antisocial behaviour order, banning her from the town’s red light district last April.
She was convicted for soliciting in 2004 and twice last year.
Ian Elkins, prosecuting, told Southend Magistrates’ Court that on the evening of September 14, 2010, police repeatedly saw Mulligan waiting for punters in Southchurch Road. They later arrested her.
Gavin Burrell, defending, insisted Mulligan had merely been on her way to and from friends.
Mulligan, was found guilty of loitering for the purposes of prostitution, and in breach of a conditional discharge she got for obstructing police officers.
She was given an extended anti-social behaviour order to include: Eastern Avenue, between the junctions of Sutton Road and Hamstel Road, Hamstel Road, Lifstan Way, Eastern Esplanade, between Lifstan Way and Queensway, Queensway, between Eastern Esplanade and Sutton Road, Sutton Road, between the junctions of Queensway and Eastern Esplanade, and all roads within.
Mulligan is banned from entering those roads between 6pm and 6am as well as the roads covered by her previous Asbo, which include Woodgrange Drive, Southchurch Road, Kensington Road, Riviera Drive, Surbiton Avenue and Southchurch Avenue.
Speaking after the case neighbourhood PC Jon Marti said: “We are really pleased. Hopefully we won’t be seeing Christine again, but if we do we will arrest her.”
