A WOMAN has called for CCTV after her car and two others were hit by vandals for the second time in a few months.

Lucy Evans, 21, of Kenway, Southend, and partner Dean Maguire, 24, face repairs of up to £400 after vandals ripped a wing mirror from their Ford Fiesta Zetec and damaged bodywork.

A white van also had its wing mirror pulled off and an Audi suffered £250 damage after yobs kicked the wing mirror off and scratched the bonnet.

In November, several cars in Kenway were trashed by vandals.

Miss Evans said she wants CCTV put up in the area and called for an alleyway, which leads to Short Street, gated off at night to prevent further attacks.

She added: “This has left me and my partner fuming.

“As if these current times weren’t difficult enough, we now have to fork out for a new wing mirror and a new wing panel, just because someone couldn’t walk home in a sensible manner.

“How far does it have to go until someone does something?”

The damage is believed to have taken place between 5pm Friday and 5pm Saturday.

Sgt Ashley Holland, of the Southend central neighbourhood policing team, urged victims of the vandalism to come forward.

He said: “If we don’t know about these crimes then we can’t deal with them. If people report them to us then we can take positive action.”
