BURGLARS were able to break into homes in Westcliff and Leigh through unlocked back doors.
A computer, computer equipment and a camera were stolen from a home in Glenwood Avenue in Westcliff on January 26, between 9.45am and 1.45pm where the suspects were able to get in through an unlocked back door.
A television and audio equipment were also stolen from a house in Manchester Drive, Leigh, on January 25.
PC Alex Courts, from Southend CID target team, said: “A home that looks unoccupied and insecure is an easy target for burglars.
"We are encouraging the public to make life harder for criminals by making sure their home is secure at all times.”
