A CHILD rapist has been jailed for 11 years for raping a child.
David Wood, 44, of Penhurst Avenue, Southend, appeared at Southend Crown Court today, Wednesday, June 15.
He had previously admitted rape, four counts of indecent assault and two counts of gross indecency relating to a child back in the Nineties.
He was sentenced to 11 years for rape, three years for the gross indecencies and 18 months for the indecent assaults, both to run concurrently.
Det Con Paul Alabaster, investigating officer, said: "Although these offences happened some years ago, I am pleased that the victim, who was at court, can now finally put this behind her and move on, I am glad she was able to see justice being done.”
