THOUSANDS of hardy cyclists braved torrential rain to take part in the annual London to Southend bike ride.
About 4,500 people finished the 58-mile ride, now in its 12th year, from East London’s Victoria Park to Priory Park, Southend, despite the soaking conditions.
The determined participants pedalled their way through the London suburbs and then into the back lanes and villages of south Essex.
