A YOUTH theatre group's carnival float has been trashed by mindless vandals - but will still take part in the parade thanks to the local community.
Rayleigh-based Mushroom Theatre Company was devastated to discovered its Cowboys and Indians-themed float had been wrecked overnight.
But volunteers, neighbours and parents have pulled together to repair the float, so the children can take part in the Southend Carnival.
* More than 50 floats will be on parade at Southend Carnival this evening (Saturday).
The procession will start at 7.45pm in Chalkwell Esplanade before moving through The Leas, Western Esplanade, Marine Parade and up to the Kursaal, before finishing at the junction of Victoria Road and Eastern Esplanade.
