A HOST of football stars have made donations to a charity night in aid of a young goalkeeper left partially paralysed after getting caught up in a fight.

England captain John Terry has donated a pair of signed football boots, while Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has written a personal “get well soon” letter to Nicky Morgan, the stricken Billericay Town keeper.

Redknapp, 64, who was first team manager at West Ham United when Nick was there as a youth player, also sent a signed football shirt.

Ben, 36, Ryan, 30, and Reede, 19, Nick’s three brothers, are organising a benefit night to help raise cash to try and secure Nick, 25, the best treatment possible as he aims to regain full movement in his arms and legs.

Ben, from Chelmsford, said: “He is in need of specialist spinal treatment and rehab and the NHS is saying it could be anything between two and three months before a bed becomes available to try to get him the treatment he needs. Nick is young and fit and desperate to recover. We want to get him moving again.”

Ben said Nick is staying strong, despite only being able to move his limbs a matter of millimetres.

He said his condition is slowly improving, but specialist treatment will make all the difference.

Football pundit Tony Cascarino, a former Eire and Chelsea forward, is a friend of the Morgan family and is helping them organise the event via Twitter.

It is the retired striker, 49, who has been inundating famous football names with requests for donations and players, clubs and companies from the football world have so far been coming up trumps.

Ben said a wave of donations also included signed shirts from Tottenham Hotspur duo Tom Huddlestone and Aaron Lennon.

Shot-stopper Nicky was rushed to Queen’s Hospital, Romford, following a fight which police believe he was trying to break up.

The incident involved up to ten men and happened behind the Sugar Hut nightclub, Brentwood, in the early hours of October 28.

It is understood he was attacked as he tried to intervene and he hit his head on a kerb.

The benefit night will be at O’Grady’s Irish Bar, at 699 High Road, Ilford, where Nicky was previously a doorman.

The evening will run from 7.30pm on Friday, December 2. For more information about how to buy tickets visit the Nick Morgan Benefit Night page on Facebook.
