A THUG has been locked up for ten months for punching a teenager in the face and attacking another man just ten minutes later.

Adam Price, 20, carried out both attacks at East Tilbury rail station.

Basildon Crown Court was told the first assault happened at about 10.20pm on Friday when the victim, a 17-year-old man, was leaving the station to make his way home.

He was approached by Price who bumped into him and nudged him with his elbow.

The victim even apologised to Price, who then punched him in the face.

Terrified, the teenager ran from the station and was treated at hospital for bruising and swelling to the eye.

Ten minutes later Price began shouting at two men waiting opposite him on platform one.

The thug threatened both of the men before jumping on the tracks and climbing on to the platform.

He then squared up to one of the men and demanded he hand over his belongings.

The victim refused and as he turned to walk away, Price hit him on the head from behind.

The man was left uninjured and had nothing taken. He managed to call police.

Price, of Lodge Lane, Grays, was arrested and admitted charges of common assault and causing actual bodily harm.

He was jailed for ten months in a young offender institution.

His sentence was welcomed by Det Con Michael Bute, of the British Transport Police.

He said: “Thankfully neither of the victims were seriously injured, but were understandably left extremely shaken by Price’s threatening and intimidating behaviour.

“Both incidents were despicable, unprovoked attacks on passengers who were simply minding their own business.

“Both incidents, thankfully rare on the rail network, were captured on CCTV and forensic evidence gathered by us meant we were able to track down, arrest and bring this offender to justice.”
