A SOUTHEND man has been treated for head injuries after he was assaulted in Eastern Esplanade, Southend, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police taped off a phone box on the road as part of their investigation into the incident which happened at around 2.45am.

The man in his 30s is being treated in Southend Hospital but his condition is described as stable.

An Essex Police spokeswoman said: “We have reports of a man injured in the street.

“A phone box has been taped off as part of scene preservation.

“We are investigating what lead to his injury.”

Police are trying to establish how the injuries were sustained and are urging anyone with information to contact Southend CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
