THE Wat Tyler Arts series returns this spring with a new season of concerts set to take place at Wat Tyler Country Park.

The concerts, held within the Wat Tyler Centre, will see performances of country, latin jazz and folk over the coming months.

Kevin Blake, councillor with responsibility for leisure and arts at Basildon Council said: “The Wat Tyler Arts series is an absolute must for music fans. We try and do something that’s a little bit different and this season is no different. It’s a great venue and a rare opportunity to see these artists in such an intimate setting. For only £10 its also fantastic value for money.”

The season kicks off on Saturday, March 17 with country star Hank Wangford showcasing his unique view of the world.

Saturday, April 21 sees a rare outing for one of the country’s leading Latin Jazz acts - the Martin Johnson Trio. Led by renowned musician Martin Johnson, the band also features Paul McCartneys drummer David Giovannini and three times ‘Best UK Jazz Guitar’ Jim Mullen.

And the season comes to an end on Saturday, May 12 as legendary Steeleye Span fiddle play Peter Knight brings his new band Gigspanner to the park for a night of folk music at its very best.
