AN INNOVATIVE team at Southend Council have been shortlisted for a national award.
The insurance team are finalists in the Best Risk Management Approach In The Public Sector category at the Strategic Risk Awards.
Southend Council impressed with their unique way of dealing with personal injury claimants.
When a person makes a direct personal injury claim an officer may visit them to discuss the matter and enable the case to be dealt with without the need of a solicitor.
Andrew Moring, tory councillor responsible for corporate support services, said: “This is a triple achievement. The team’s initiative is helping claimants enjoy a more personal service; it’s saving money- thereby helping the Council to keep funding front line services during these tough economic times; and it’s also putting Southend on the national map.
“This is all the more commendable when the Judges have commented that the standard of entries for these awards really does keep getting higher each year.”
The winner will be announced in May.
