THE A129 is expected to be closed until at least 6pm following a serious crash involving a car and small van.
Firefighters from Rayleigh Weir used specialist cutting equipment to free two casualties who become trapped during the incident on London Road, Rayleigh, at 1.45pm.
The first casualty was released by 2.40pm and the second just after 3pm.
They have both been left in the care of the paramedics.
An air ambulance also attended the scene.
