A HAVE-A-GO-HERO chased two thieves across a busy roundabout, after they stole from a charity box.

Fergal Grant, 38, leapt into action after he saw the pair hot-footing it out of Southend Victoria railway station.

He had been working at his coffee shop, Milk & Sugar, when he heard a cry from Sandra Ehlers at her fundraising stall.

She had been collecting money for Jeans for Genes day by selling a variety of denim-based products.

But she was left dismayed when two men took cash out of her collection tin.
Mr Grant said: “It was instinct, I chased after them it was over in a flash.
“I just thought I’d go and ask them for the money back. They were quite timid, there was no arguement involved, they gave some coins back to me and said sorry.”

It happened at about midday on Friday.
