Thor: Love and Thunder is the latest film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and Chris Hemsworth returns once more to play the Norse God.

Also returning is Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, who last appeared in Thor: The Dark World, who has transformed into the 'Mighty Thor' character form the comics.

Alongside those two Tessa Thompson, Taika Waititi, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Russell Crowe and Christian Bale feature.

The film will see Thor looking to find inner peace after the trials he has gone through in previous films.

However, his retirement is interrupted by Gorr the God Butcher (Bale), a galactic killer who seeks the extinction of the gods, which sees Thor come to old allies for help.

When is the release date for Thor: Love and Thunder?

Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in the UK on Thursday, July 7, which was pushed up a day from its planned Friday, July 8.

How many Thor films are there?

There are already three Thor films in the MCU, with Love and Thunder being the fourth.

It started off in 2011 with Kenneth Branagh directed Thor, before being followed by Thor: The Dark World in 2013, directed by Alan Taylor.

Taika Waititi then took over the reins for 2017's Thor: Ragnarok and he has stayed on to helm the latest film with the character.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in most UK cinemas from Thursday, July 7 and will become available for streaming on Disney Plus in a few months after the release date.
