Speaking on the red carpet about her character's tragic exit from Hollyoaks, Gemma Merna said: "She didn't have a horrible death, she had a very beautiful death.
"Our producers did not want any marks on her face. I think I had a tiny bit of blood on my cheek, and I had been blown up."
She added that Carmel McQueen was the "nicest" of her family and that there was a real effort to give her the "best" exit.
The conversation shifted to what she has been doing since her departure from the Channel 4 soap in 2014.
She said: "I run my own online businesses and retreat business - I do yoga, meditation, I'm a hippo therapist, I'm a life coach, so that's what the future holds for me."
However, she added that she is still happy to take any acting jobs that come along, and that's she's just "waiting on the right ones to come in".

"So, I feel it was a perfect time when I was in Hollyoaks, but, yeah, we get auditions."
