A busy road has reopened after a "head-on" crash between two cars earlier this afternoon.

The A120 was blocked between Coggeshall and Colchester after the crash which happened at around 1.30pm today (Thursday, January 17).

Traffic was left stationery in both directions while emergency services worked at the scene near the former Queen's Head pub, in Surrex.

The road was reopened to traffic at around 2.45pm.

A spokesman for Save Lives Not Time, the A120 action group, said he heard the impact from his home and went outside.

He said: "One car has gone across the road and had a head-on with another car.

"Nobody is seriously injured but we've got two fire engines and four ambulances here."

It's the latest in a long line of crashes on the notorious stretch of road.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We were called to reports of a collision on the A120 at 1.25pm today.

"We sent two ambulances, an ambulance officer and the Hazardous Area Response Team to treat two patients.

"One was taken to Broomfield Hospital and the other was taken to Colchester General Hospital for further treatment."
