A PENSIONER has been found as police completed their search for a missing man.

Essex Police have completed their search for Martin Mellett, 70, who went missing last week.

The Halstead resident disappeared on Friday 31 July, prompting officers to launch an appeal to help find him.

The officers' only lead at that point was that they knew he stayed at a Premier Inn at Galleys Corner in Braintree on Saturday 1 August.

Essex Police said they were "concerned for his welfare" as they launched their public appeal for help on Tuesday 4 August following an unsuccessful search.

Essex Police gave a description at the time saying Martin has links to the Bury St Edmonds area and was last seen wearing a black shirt, trousers and shoes.

They also said Martin has a walking frame and a slight limp.

Now Essex Police are reporting they have found Martin.

A spokesman said: "Martin Mellet, 70, who had been missing from Halstead has been found.

"Thank you for all your help and support, it’s always greatly appreciated."
