The following letter has been published in the Echo this week:

"Over the years I have read numerous letters in the opinion page from councillor Kevin Buck.

"I must admit that on many occasions I have failed to agree and even strongly disagreed with his opinions, but could not agree more with his letter in the Echo on Monday August 28 regarding ULEZ. It was both informative and pleasing to read with his case for not hitting the least well-off the hardest.

"He is 100 per cent correct for this is what the introduction of a ULEZ policy in our city would do.

"An untold number of people would be badly hit, including the elderly, those on low wages, and those with limited savings in these hard times, to name just a few unable to purchase a new car and not knowing how they would manage if having to give up their old car should they be deemed unacceptable.

"Getting children to school, shopping for the elderly, even being able to afford continuing to go to work would become problematic for many.

"So thank you Kevin, a letter from a councillor prepared to ignore party politics and stand up for those less well-off in his community. Should this ever come to a council vote I hope that many more councillors take note of Kevin’s views and consider the true effect the introduction of ULEZ would have on many.

"It seems unbelievable that in London, a city of many millions ULEZ has been imposed by one man,not a city council, an arrogant man who comes across as believing only his opinions count."
