POLICE want to trace a driver captured on video deliberately splashing people as floods swept into Canvey.
Outraged residents have called in officers after a video of the antics was posted on You Tube and Facebook.
The video, filmed by the passenger, shows the driver driving around the flooded streets of Canvey.
As passers-by become closer to the car, the driver speeds up, resulting in residents being splashed by a vast amount of water.
Both driver and passengers can then be heard laughing.
Dave Frost, 47, of Link Road, said: “He’s an idiot. It is just mindless and he wasn’t the only one, people have sewage in their homes.”
Richard Exley, from Benfleet, said: “Something should be done about this person.”
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Police are aware of this footage and consider this to be an offence of careless driving.
"If anyone knows who the people in this car are we would ask them to contact Essex Police on 101 or ring Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
The video was originally put on Facebook but has since been uploaded to YouTube by a person disgusted by their antics.
