A TEENAGE girl was struck by a car while crossing a busy road during the school run.
The victim suffered an injured leg after being hit by a Vauxhall Zafira, at the Gore in Basildon, near Ghyllgrove Community School on Friday **12**.
The girl, who is believed to be a pupil at the school, was treated at the scene for a suspected leg injury then rushed to Basildon Hospital by road ambulance.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “Police were called shortly after 3.20pm with reports of a collision involving a Vauxhall Zafira and a pedestrian in The Gore, Basildon.
“The pedestrian is believed to be a teenage girl and officers remain at the scene while enquiries continue.”
An East of England Ambulance spokesman said: “The East of England Ambulance Service Trust was called to a road traffic incident on The Gore in Basildon at 3.21pm today (February 16).
“An ambulance and an ambulance officer attended and treated a girl with a suspected leg injury.
“She was taken to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital for further care.”
