THREE dog charities are set to benefit from a donation of more than £9,000 raised by the former Rochford District Council Chairman during her year in office.
Heather Glynn has donated a total of £9,624.87 to guide dog charities supporting blind, deaf and disabled people.
Each year, the Chairman of Rochford District Council nominates one or more charities which they will promote and raise money for during their time as Chairman.
The 2015/16 Chairman, Heather Glynn, chose to support three charities: Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and Dog A.I.D.
Whilst she was Chairman Heather organised a number of charity events, raffles and collections.
The money has been split equally between the three charities so that they each receive £3,208.29.
Mrs Glynn said: “I am honoured to have raised so much money for guide dog charities during my time as Chairman. Guide dogs make a huge difference to the lives of blind, deaf and disabled people, but this would not be possible without the work of these charities."
Nigel Sim, representing the Southend branch of Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, said: “On behalf of Guide Dogs for the Blind, I would like to thank Heather for raising such a wonderful sum of money for our charity. This will go towards the funding of our puppies and guide dogs within our group."
