The inquest into the 20-year-old’s death was opened at Essex Coroner’s Court this morning.
Coroner’s officer Marianne Robson: “This inquest touches upon the death of Robbie-Owen Reeves, who died on January 21st at the Port of Tilbury.
“He was employed as a rigger lashing export trailers to the ships.
“Whilst getting a trailer back, he was caught between two trailers.
“A provisional cause of death was identified as 1A traumatic head and spinal injuries.”
Senior coroner Caroline Beasley Murray said: “I am opening the inquest of Robbie-Owen Reeves. A date has been set for December 1st, with four days, because a jury will be needed in this matter.
“I will have to speak to the officer about the release of the body.
“I will need to see the post-mortem [examination] and the toxicology reports. I will need to see the police reports and very importantly I will need to see the Health and Safety Executive’s report, and something from the family would be helpful.
“Please could sympathy be expressed to Mr Reeves’ family.”
