A police investigation has been launched after a car passenger was assaulted with an unknown substance in Leigh.
At around 9pm on May 10, a white transit van pulled alongside a Grey Honda CR-V Estate and threw a white unknown liquid at the car’s windscreen whilst driving along Progress Road.
The two vehicles then carried on along the A127 where someone from the van threw a second batch of the same substance at the car- this time it landed on the passenger in the car and caused a minor irritation.
The van then turned off the A127 and headed to the A129.
A spokesperson from Essex Police, said: "If you have any information, please contact Southend Local Policing Team on 101, quoting crime reference 42/66814/20.
"Information can also be given completely anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or visiting crimestoppers-uk.org."
