Fire crews are currently tackling a chemical spill at Southend Hospital.
The area around the hospital has been isolated after a spill of disinfectant earlier this afternoon.
It has been confirmed there is no wider threat to the public.
Firefighters arrived at the scene around 3.30pm, and remain at the scene.
A spokesman for the fire servce, said: "Firefighters are currently at the scene of a chemical spill at Southend Hospital.
"On arrival, crews reported that there had been a disinfectant spill and are working with scientific advisors to make the scene safe."
Station Manager Marc Diggory added: "We have isolated the area while crews work to clean the spill and dispose of the liquid safely. There is no threat to the wider public."
