Witham Town 2-3 Billericay Town
From Spa Road
Ryman Premier
RETURNING striker Ricky Sappleton was the hero for Billericay Town as he netted an injury time winner to complete a remarkable turn-around at Witham Town.
Sappleton has been out of action for three weeks and came off the bench to pull Craig Edwards’ side back into the match, before he scored in stoppage time.
Such a turn-around looked unlikely midway through the second half – after Josh Mayhew and Danny Emmanuel put the hosts in control.
Sappleton halved the deficit with 12 minutes on the clock, flicking a Junior Appiah cross into the far corner and Captain Rich Halle then had the chance to draw his team level from the spot, after substitute Jeffrey Imudia was fouled. He scored with ease - his fourth goal in five games.
But then it was back to Sappleton and he chipped home a winner, and there was even time for Witham to have an equaliser chalked off.
But the referee whistle sounded soon after to send the away homes fans jubilant and lift Town up to third in the division.
Billericay Town: Lumley, O’Hanlon, Halle, Sheehan, Beavan, Appiah, Dunnne, Pooley, Shaw, Benjamin, Njie
