Dereham Town 1–4 Great Wakering Rovers
Ryman North
From Aldiss Park
GREAT Wakering Rovers stunned Dereham Town to run out 4-1 winners on their travels.
Rovers were crushed 4-0 by Wroxham midweek but put that performance firmly behind them with this win, with goals from Tom Strickland, Nick Skelton, Tony Jacobs and Billy Johnson enough for Dan Trenkel’s men.
Dereham had lost only one of their six home matches before the encounter but Wakering put them to the sword, taking the lead after 25 minutes.
Tom Strickland hit the opener before their rhythm was disrupted by an injury to pacy striker Eljay Worrell. And Dereham hit back, with Michael Clunan smashing home an emphatic equaliser.
Rovers saw a goal chalked off before the break before they regained the lead midway through the second half.
It was centre-back Nick Skelton who restored the advantage and, as Dereham pushed on the visitors struck a decisive third – Tony Jacobs on target.
Substitute Billy Johnson put some gloss on the scoreline with a late fourth, five minutes after entering the fray, as Rovers claimed their third win on the road this term.
Great Wakering Rovers: Seal, Radley, Skelton, Sparrow, Skeels, Kent, Jacobs, Ranger (Johnson), Worrell (Bradley), Nash, Strickland (Pugsley)
