SHRIMPERS boss Phil Brown moved John White in to the middle of his defence as he felt he would be best to deal with Bury’s strikers.
White took Adam Thompson’s place at the heart of the back four, with Ryan Leonard switching to right back.
And Brown felt the changes were suited to coming up against the Shakers.
“I didn’t second guess Bury’s team but they play with a bit of movement and pace and John’s own pace and movement made it a no brainer for me,” said Brown.
“I think the challenge of a new position helps John and I also thought Ryan Leonard was magnificent at right-back.
“Adam Thompson had been doing a good, solid job but he’s on four yellow cards so we need to manage him carefully up until the end of November.
“Cian Bolger was an option but we didn’t really need that height so I went for John in there.”
