JOHN-JOE O’Toole has been recalled from his loan spell at Southend United by Northampton Town.
The attacking midfielder lined up just twice during his spell with the Shrimpers.
And Blues boss Phil Brown was disappointed not to work with O’Toole for longer.
“Northampton have decided to call him back and there was nothing we could do about it,” said Brown.
“The loan spell was due to expire in January but at the end of the first month there was the option of 24 hour call back.
“They’ve decided to bring him back in and I think they’ve had a couple of their players called back too.
“It’s disappointing but we thank him for his efforts during his time here and it’s something we might decide to revisit in January if we can."
