SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has made three changes to his starting line-up for this afternoon’s game at Northampton Town.

In a match which survived a late pitch inspection, in-form winger David Worrall is only fit enough to start on the bench after suffering a knee injury against Dagenham & Redbridge last weekend.

His place in midfield has been taken by Michael Timlin while Shaq Coulthirst has also returned to the team in place of Myles Weston who is suffering with tonsillitis.

The Shrimpers’ final change comes at the back where Adam Thompson has recovered from a dead leg and replaces the suspended Cian Bolger at centre-back.

Northampton have included former Blues defender Ryan Cresswell and attacking midfielder John-Joe O’Toole in their starting line-up, along with new boy Ricky Holmes who grew up supporting the Shrimpers.

Southend United: Bentley, White, Thompson, Prosser, Coker, Atkinson, Leonard, Timlin, Payne, Coulthirst, Corr

Subs: Worrall, Clifford, P Smith, Deegan, Binnom-Williams, Williams & Bridge
