SOUTHEND Saxons stunned table-topping Henley with a shock 18-17 win in National Two South this afternoon.
Southend led 13-0 before the visitors hit back to take the lead.
But a late try from centre Tom Ashton secured victory for Saxons.
It was also a good day for Westcliff in National Three London & SE as they moved out of the relegation zone and up to 10th in the table with a 34-29 win at Amersham & Chiltern.
However, in London One North, Thurrock were beaten 16-8 at home to Chingford and Rochford Hundred's hopes of promotion from London Two North East were hit by a 38-10 defeat at Diss.
South Woodham Ferrers won 17-0 at local rivals in Basildon.
In London Three North East, Billericay were beaten 25-10 at Old Brentwoods while in Essex One, Canvey Island lost 15-13 at Bancroft.
Pegasus Palmerians were also beaten, losing 21-21 at home to Ilford Wanderers.
