PORTSMOUTH striker Paul McCallum could be hit with at least a four-match ban following his dismissal against Southend United.
The on-loan West Ham United striker was shown a straight red in stoppage time during Blues’ 2-1 win at Fratton Park on Saturday.
He will now face an automatic three-match ban for violent conduct.
And,in addition, the Football Association have charged the striker with improper conduct.
It is alleged the 21-year-old made contact with referee Lee Collins following his issuing of the red card.
McCallum has until 6pm tomorrow to answer the charge.
Regardless of his plea, he will then face an independent commission who will examine the allegations.
As the charge of improper conduct is termed a ‘non-standard’ offence, there is no set sanction to be applied.
It will be left in the hands of the commission, but McCallum can expect the minimum of an additional one-match ban if found guilty.
An FA spokesman said: “Paul McCallum has been given a three-match ban for violent conduct.
“However, there is also a separate charge on the back of his dismissal.
“It is alleged his behaviour following his dismissal amounted to improper conduct “He has until 6pm tomorrow to answer the charge.”
