BILLERICAY racing driver Bradley Smith will be making up for lost time before hitting the grid in the Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup this season.

Smith had been due to compete in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) with Greaves Motorsport in a Ginetta-Nissan LMP3 car.

But when Greaves opted to delay their entry until 2015, Smith was left looking for a set.

Now he will be driving for Mectech Motorsport in the SuperCup, which is a support race for the British Touring Car Championship.

“We are really looking forward to the challenge,” said Smith, who has raced to four titles with his family’s Mectech team in various Radical championships.

“It’s been a last-minute deal and I would like to thank Lawrence Tomlinson and Jamie Robinson for their help in making it happen.

“It’s going to be tough as we won’t have much testing before the first race, but I am sure we can run at the sharp end!”

Smith, 24, will be kicking-off his SuperCup campaign at his home Brands Hatch circuit with the first round at Brands Hatch on April 4 and 5.

He has set his sights on taking the SuperCup title outright this year to maintain his string of championship wins.

After graduating from karts, the Billericay driver moved into Radical sports cars and took the Radical Clubman Cup and Supersport class crowns in his first season in 2012.

He took the SR3 Challenge title the following year and made it a clean sweep of Radical titles by winning the European Masters in 2014.
