AN illness meant Olympic and multi-Commonwealth Games medallist Max Whitlock was only able to compete on the pommel horse at the British Championships.
Basildon based Whitlock had been hoping to impress in the all around final.
But he was only able to take participate on the pommel, where he finished second in both the masters and senior final behind Louis Smith.
Whitlock tweeted: “Obviously very gutted that I couldn’t do all six pieces this competition. My body doesn’t feel 100 per cent. For that reason it wasn’t right for me to do that. Happy with what I’ve done based on my training.”
