Shell Club angling section's Roy Nye netted a magnificent perch at the Warren Fishery's main lake.
The fish tipped the scales at 3lb 2oz, at the Stanford-le-Hope venue, and was the biggest perch of the year.
Another local member, Gordon Edwards Junior, enjoyed a red letter day too - landing seven carp, five of which were more than 20lb.
The best was a 23lb mirror carp.
His haul also included two tench of 4lb each.
One of the biggest carp of the year was captured by day ticket regular Paul Hanwell, who netted a mirror carp weighing just over 32lb.
His day session also included another carp over 20lb and a pike of about 12lb.
The pike season ends on Saturday and Ben Samuel was making sure he signed off with a reasonable fish.
At the Warren's square lake, a carp of 19lb 10z was caught by day ticket angler Ryan Jenkins.
Other locals were busy with rod and line too, with John Southgate landing a pike of 21.5lb.
Quality roach and the odd bream have been landed by float anglers.
At the match lake, match secretary Monty Oates had six bream to 5lb in 90 minutes quivertipping soft pellet on peg 7.
A day ticket angler landed 11 tench in a day session fishing from peg 31.
Three of the tench that were caught were around 5lb in weight.
And the biggest perch reported was a fish of 2lb 12oz caught on worm. The club's first open match takes place on Thursday, April 8, in the match lake.
