SOUTHEND United’s new intake of youth team scholars were introduced to the Shrimpers crowd at half-time of Saturday’s clash with Walsall.
All 10 of the club’s new under 16s came out onto the pitch.
And, following on from the youth team’s 2-0 win against Stevenage, the unveiling added to the delight of youth team chief Ricky Duncan.
“It was great for the boys and their families to get out on the pitch like that,” said Duncan.
“We couldn’t do it at the end of last season because of the play-offs so it was nice to be able to do it at the weekend.
“Five of the players also started for the under 18s in the win against Stevenage so all round it was a really good day for us.”
