ROCHFORD Hundred sank to a second successive defeat as they were beaten 31-23 at Norwich.

But Hundred's first team manager Graham Pratt was keen to remain upbeat.

"The players can feel that their hard work and commitment should have earned them more from this match," said Pratt.

"There were also a number of positive aspects to their play not the least the way the pack is beginning to gel."

Rochford, who are still seeking their first win of the season, went in front with a try from Scott Horsburgh which was converted by Simon Ashton.

However, Norwich responded well and hit back with three tries of their own to lead 15-7.

A penalty from Ashton cut the home-team's advantage to five points at half-time before Rochford started the second half brightly with debutant full-back Jon Fitzpatrick finishing off a fast move.

Ashton added the extras to put Hundred in front before both teams swapped penalties with Ashton again kicking the points for Rochford.

Norwich replied with their fourth try of the afternoon before Ashton levelled the score with another successful penalty.

But, late on, Norwich went over for a try and then added a late penalty to kill off Rochford's hopes of taking any points from the game.
