SOUTHEND ended their season on a low note with a 4-1 defeat away to Southampton.
The win ensured the Saints a berth in the Championship play-offs.
Blues took the lead through Adam Barrett's 13th minute volley.
But Kenwyne Jones' header levelled the scores just before half-time.
Southampton took the lead when Leon Best scored shortly after the restart and then added the third 10 minutes from time.
Jones completed his brace to secure the win.
