RYAN Butler made it a hat-trick of national titles with victory in the NABGC finals.

The Berry ABC boxer defeated Ryan Bewick from Tyne & Wear's Boldon ABC to win the Class B 80kg-plus crown at Bristol on Friday night.

Butler, who lives in Wickford, had already had consecutive ABA Junior Cadet titles under his belt.

He claimed the National Association of Boys and Girls Clubs' title in the second round after Bewick had received a standing eight count after being floored by a straight right.

But there was disappointment for Billericay & Wickford ABC as all four of their fighters suffered defeat in their finals.

Jessica Lelliott lost to Hull boxer Lauriss Abdull (St Paul's ABC) in her Class C U69kg bout in Croydon on Thursday.

And Joe Giles was beaten by Leamington Spa rival Lewis Williams (Clearys ABC) in his Class C U91kg final in the Surrey town.

Rio Emmins became Billericay & Wickford's first national champion in March when he won the ABA 48kg Junior Cadet Championship.

But the boxer from Basildon was unable to secure a second national crown after losing to Callum Grace from Bradford's Platinum Boxing Academy in Portsmouth on Satuday night in the Class A 52kg final.

Kariss Barwick also siffered disappointment in Portsmouth as she lost her Class A 57kg final to Boston ABC's Angelina Finch.

This is the first year that the National Association of Boys and Girls Club championships has had a competition for female boxers.
