WESTCLIFF Hardcourts retained the Don Barton Mixed Cup after they beat Essex Golf & Country Club 2-1 in a nail-biting final.
Hard suffered a setback in the mixed rubber where Simon Chesher and Sue Hookway lost 7-6 6-4 to Ian Davis and Kerry Porter from the Earls Colne club.
But The Ridgeway club hit back through John Handelaar and Paul Clark in the men’s doubles with a 6-1 6-3 win over Malcolm Hobbs and Richard Arrell.
And a championship tie-break was needed to settle the Essex County LTA Winter Knockout Cup final.
Hard’s Fiona Stone and Virunee Viravong took the first set 6-2 but EG&CC’s Fiona Courtland and Anne Burton levelled by taking the second 6-3.
But Stone and Viravong held their nerve to win the tie-break 10-4 and secured the trophy.
Gidea Park retained the Ian Pitt Men’s Seniors Cup for the fifth year in a row by beating Virgin Active (Clearview) 3-0.
