ROCHFORD Hundred will be bidding to cause an upset against London Two North East leaders Saffron Walden at Magnolia Road this weekend.

Fourth placed Rochford’s eight match unbeaten run ended with a 10-3 defeat at Diss a fortnight ago.

And Hundred’s first team manager Graham Pratt insists the side are now keen to get back on track with an unexpected triumph. “We know we will have to be at the top of our game to get a good result against them,” said Pratt.

“We were taken apart when we played them earlier on in the season (losing 60-24) but we made a partial come back in the second half.

“This time round the side is stronger than then and the team is far more settled now too.

"The forwards are a formidable unit and the back division is also stronger now although the injured Matt Stewart will be missed.

“Overall there is a sense of quiet confidence in the team and will give Saffron a much harder game this time, especially as playing at home is always a big advantage.”

Bottom of the table Basildon, who have yet to win this season host eighth placed Ipswich while South Woodham Ferrers – who sit 10th – travel to sixth placed Norwich looking to avoid a third successive defeat.

In Essex One, seventh placed Canvey Island host Bancroft who sit immediately above them in the standings.
