DAVID Worrall has been offered an improved contract to stay at Southend United.
The winger is being tracked by a number of League One clubs, including his former side Bury.
But Blues boss Phil Brown is keen to keep the 25-year-old at Roots Hall.
And he has now handed him a better new deal in a bid to stop him leaving.
“David Worrall has been handed an improved offer of a contract,” confirmed Brown.
“He has interest from clubs in the north-west where’s he from, including one you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to guess.
“But I would like him to stay and that’s why we’ve made him this improved contract offer.
“He’s the type of player who I think can help get us out of this division but it’s up to him what happens from here.”
Worrall joined Blues before the start of the 2014/15 season and has scored nine goals in 84 appearances for the club.
