GRAYS middleweight Tey Lynn-Jones took his record to 3-0 with an impressive points win over powerful Spaniard Christian Hoskin Gomez.
Lynn-Jones won 60-55 on points against the man from Andalucia, as he was cheered on at Grays’ Civic Hall by a strong home support last Friday.
It was the first time Lynn-Jones had boxed through six rounds, but the 22-year-old said he was pleased at how he had handled the bout, and was already looking towards his next foray in the ring.
“It was a good hard fight and he was tougher than I had expected,” said the former Holland Park ABC boxer. “It went the six rounds and I was happy with that and I now know I can sustain shots and pressure for the duration. I caught him with some good shots but he didn’t go down.
“I threw a lot more body shots so I was able to put a lot of things I had tried into practice.
“It was a clear win for me, I won every round so I knew I was up heading into the closing rounds and I wanted to get the stoppage, but I am pleased with the result.”
Lynn-Jones had some of the loudest support on the night, for which he was thankful, but he will not be taking time out ahead of a return to the ring.
He flew to Spain earlier this week to take part in a specialised boxing camp, as he looks towards a potential return next month.
“I have great support and that was really helping me so I am chuffed to bits with that,” he said.
“I have this boxing camp in Spain for a week’s sparring and I could be back fighting next month. If that doesn’t work out I will definitely be back at the Civic Hall in September so there is a lot to look forward to.”
Lynn-Jones thanked his sponsors The Sugar Hut and Micky Norcross.
