SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has hit out at Concord Rangers after they opted to cancel tonight’s friendly at short notice.
Blues’ under-21 team had been due to take on the BeachBoys this evening at the Aspect Arena.
But Brown has been left fuming by the late postponement which was broken to the club by Echosport.
“This is really poor from Concord and as far as I’m concerned it ends our working relationship with them while I’m the manager of Southend,” said Brown.
“I’ve always felt as though we had a good relationship with them in the past with matches being played against each other but for them to do this is just scandalous.
“They’re trying to say we had promised them our first team but that was never going to be the case because we’ve always had this week in line for being in Spain.
“Not at any stage had we ever said it was going to be our first team, so to say the coaches of the under-21s are upset would be an understatement.”
Concord will now host Gillingham this evening.
