ECHOSPORT chats to Chesterfield fan Robert Lawson ahead of tomorrow’s match at Roots Hall.

Chesterfield head into the game this weekend sitting 17th in the League One table. What’s been your take on the season so far?

“We started very well but things have just gone from bad to worse with injuries playing a major part in that and we have missed our keeper Tommy Lee.

“Also Gboly Ariyibi hasn’t stepped up to the plate as much as we all expected.”

What are the hopes and expectations for Chesterfield this season?

“I will be happy with mid table this season as a lot of doom merchants have us down for relegation.

“I know we are missing a lot of players but I feel the exclusion of the loan market has damaged us greatly.”

One player Chesterfield did sign is Ched Evans. He’s currently appealing against a rape conviction. What did the fans make of his arrival at the club?

“Ched Evans has been received very well and I feel the majority of fans are backing him.

“But as is life you’re always going to get some people stay away because of him and I have even seen some fans not cheer when he has scored.

“Myself personally I feel like he offers a lot to the team and has my full backing.”

Who should Southend be keeping an eye out for this weekend?

“I think that would be John Nolan, Connor Wilkinson and if he turns up Ariyibi.”

What’s the team news ahead of the game?

“I haven’t heard much but I understand Liam O’Neil is in line for a comeback after a long injury absence.

“He played for the reserves earlier this week.”

What’s the predicted line-up this week?

I would personally go with: Fulton, McGuire , Hird , Anderson, McGinn (if fit), O’Shea, Liddle, Nolan, Ariyibi, Wilkinson, Dennis.
