FORMER West Ham United winger Zavon Hines is to be handed a trial at Southend United, Echosport understands.
Hines is currently working his way back to full fitness after suffering a knee injury.
But the 27-year-old is expected to be training with the Shrimpers next week.
Hines has also played for Burnley, Bradford City and Dagenham & Redbridge during his career and spent time on loan with both Coventry City and Bournemouth.
However, his progress in recent seasons has been hindered by injury and he has not played a first team match since lining up for Dagenham against Notts County in September 2015.
He will now be bidding to impress Blues boss Phil Brown and could be offered the opportunity to line up in an under 21 game.
But former Reading winger Jimmy Kebe, who had been on trial with the Shrimpers, will not be offered a deal by Brown.
Kebe failed to impress when playing 45 minutes in an under 21 game against Bournemouth at Roots Hall last week.
And the 32-year-old has now stopped training with the Shrimpers
