FA Trophy third qualifying round
CONCORD Rangers’ FA Trophy journey came to an end at the first hurdle as Welling United ran out 1-0 winners.
The Beach Boys, who are already out of the FA Cup and Essex Senior Cup, were looking for a response against the Wings, who had walloped them 5-0 earlier in the season.
Welling started well and had several half chances although nothing to truly trouble loan Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Bailey Vose.
Adam Coombes sent a header at goal which was well kept out by the Beach Boys stopper and it was the away side who were the brighter in the first period, albeit with getting anything to show for it.
Concord grew into the game, albeit without any clear-cut chances to speak of, as Harry Crawford forced Vose into yet another save after the break.
The goal came five minutes from time and it was a fine goal. George Oakley struck beyond Vose and it proved enough to send Concord out of the tournament.
Concord Rangers: Vose, Girdlestone, Laucys, Dowie, Ekpiteta, Newman, Collins, Topley, Carlos (Gordon), Cawley, Stokes
