SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown will today decide whether or not to sign former Gillingham striker Frank Nouble.
The 25-year-old, who started his career at West Ham United, is currently on trial with the Shrimpers.
And Echosport understands a decision on his future will be made one way or the other this afternoon.
Blues are keen to strengthen their strike-force during the January transfer window with huge doubts still surrounding the future of Nile Ranger, who has been suspended by the Shrimpers following a serious breach of club discipline.
Southend boss Phil Brown could therefore decide to hand Nouble a deal but also remains keen on Fulham duo Matt Smith and Cauley Woodrow.
Blues should also be boosted by the return of David Mooney in the next couple of weeks.
Mooney has been out injured since October but is expected to be back in full training by the end of the month.
