l RUNDOWN: Great Wakering Rovers’ bid for survival continues against a formidable looking AFC Hornchurch tomorrow.
Wakering have won just once in the last three months as their plight continues to look increasingly bleak.
But a point at Norwich United last time out and recent encouraging performances mean Keith Wilson’s men are hopeful ahead of a clash against Hornchurch.
Albeit an Urchins side in good form - since losing to Thurrock in their first match of 2017, fourth-placed Hornchurch have won five of their six league games to strengthen their hold on the play-off places.
Wakering are now 10 points from safety having played more games than those around them.
l MANAGER’S VIEW: Wakering boss Keith Wilson said: “I hope we have turned a corner. We are stringing some performances together, albeit not getting the points we deserve.
"We are not getting the rub of the green but it is life and it happens when you are down at the bottom.
"We have a settled squad and that continuity is important. If I had this squad earlier in the season I don’t think we would be in this position but we are and we have to deal with it."
l TEAM NEWS: Scott Pethers is unavailable, Ricky Evans returns to the squad.
