BASILDON United returned to winning ways as they saw off Ilford 3-1 to climb the Essex Senior League standings.
The Bees moved into eighth as goals from Nathan Dewberry, Reece Tranter and Paul Shave put them in charge against a side who began the day two points better off.
It was not a good day for Southend Manor or Hullbridge Sports.
Manor remain third, despite going down 3-1 at home to Redbridge.
Robbie Farrell had put Manor ahead but a poor second-half display saw them slip to a surprising defeat.
Hullbridge Sports were also beaten, losing 5-1 on their travels to FC Romania.
The game was in the balance until the final 10 minutes when three late goals put a flattering complexion on the scoreline.
Jimmy Cox had pulled Sports level with a thumping volley two minutes before the interval but they were no match for Romania after that, with goalkeeper Ryan Emery making a host of fine saves, despite the final score.
The result leaves Sports 10th in the table, as they bid to secure a top half finish.
